Hi Jeff,
Before there was PayPal, the best option (imho) were postal money orders. If
the purchase amount is large to you, then certify it and get a return receipt
and on-line tracking. I also created a professional letter clarifying our
agreement and my address information and signed the document. I would keep a
copy in my computer if I had any issues but never did when I did all of that.

I have found something in thesamba classified that I am interested in
purchasing. The seller want a USPS money order or cash. Is there any
mechanism to ensure that he comes through in the shipping? I don't see seller
ratings and such, like on ebay. I know there are never any guarantees in this
kind of transaction but is there anything to give me peace of mind prior
sending a money order.
