So, with all the building and stuff going on, I haven't had much time for Murray, but I might go up to Missouri for a show Saturday, so I made time for a quick tune up. He has a miss that I need to find, no big deal. He is parked in a different part of the garagemajal, but I'll just put him on the lift and I'll be done in 20 minutes. So, I get in to start him. Dead. Not just weak, dead. I suspect my old K-mart radio since recently I thought I heard it making a little whir, even though the key is off. Like a tiny motor, maybe it was stuck in play or something. Probably ran the battery dead. No big deal. So, I throw the starter on the battery and I get this wierd deep throbbing noise. I should just yank this $59 radio out. I have two more, I buy them at flea markets because they fit in the square hole in the dash. I only use them for head units. I take it out of the dash, and I still have the sound. I disconnect my amplifier. I still have the sound! I disconnect my powered sub-woofer. Finally, the sound is gone. It was probably the sub-woofer. I will be careful when I re-install it all. No big deal. So I get in and crank him up. He starts right up, but something came loose under the accelerator pedal. Murray is idling, but the pedal doesn't work. The cable is still attached at the engine. No big deal, I'll just lay on the ground and re-attach the cable to the linkage and...#!@%^*+!!! Several people had told me that I should put in this friggin' splashguard! Remember the whole thing about me looking for and finding the splashguard or belly pan or pedal pan, or whatever the hell you want to call the !#$%!!*+%#!!! thing that is attached by about 50 screws that I can't get to with out jacking the !#%^**#!!! bus and removing so that I can fix the accelerator cable so that I can drive the bus onto the #!^#**!! lift so that I can do the %!#*^+#!! 20 minute tune-up? Times up! I have to go meet the Air Conditioning people and help Jan move into her new next year classroom. #%!^*^+!!!
