Bad news,

It just takes one spammer to harvest your address, the address is then
shared out to other spammers around the globe. There's no stopping the
propagation at this point.

The only way to limit your spam, is to ask your sys admin to integrate
an anti-spam engine such as spam assassin with your mail server. This
will stop the spam at your mail server before it reaches your account.

You may notice sometimes that you get "garbage" mails that do not
include any spam - just nonsensical content. This is a spammer testing
your address to see whether it is valid. If the message to you doesn't
bounce, they know they have a valid address.

Next time, pick a more complex mail address so that your mail address
is not easily guessed - slsmith is a fairly common abbreviation.
