Every one I have talked to that is building carbed engines say that it is
taking 3 or 4 to get two good working carbs. Apparently one of the problems is
they are having leaks around the throttle shaft. But, they were originally
being reproduced in China and they have now found some company in New York that
is repoping them. Please note that I have no personal experience with them and
this is only what I have heard from 3 or 4 engine builders. Maybe we will be
lucky and Weber will again start building carbs. In fact, I did hear one rumor
that Weber had started again building carbs in Spain. ????????????? Now you
know why original Webers have gone out of sight cost wise. Anyone else got any
info they want to put in the rumor mill on what to do about carbs.

Empi carbs yet. Where are you hearing that?

No real reason other than they are what I had on the other engine and the
reliability has been great. Over 50,000 miles on them and have never done
anything except sync and adjust about every 10,000 miles. Did have to blow out
the idle circuit jets on the left one once. And then there is the cost. Have
you priced a set of 40/44s with the good cross bar linkage lately? Try about
$1,250 if you can find them. And every thing I am hearing is the Empi copies
aren't working out.

Is there any specific reason you are running the smaller carbs? Performance
will be night and day between dual 34's and dual 40/44s.

So except for the milder cam and the smaller carbs about the same engine. So
do you think I am in the ball park with an estimate of 110 hp?

  90.5 x 78 stroke
  044 super mag head
  Scat C25 cam
  Dual 40 IDF Webers
  windage tray
  solid rocker shafts,
  stock rockers,
  chromoly push rods
  ported and polished.
  Full flow exhaust.
horsepower is a calculated estimate at 140hp
Also running a Kennedy 3500 lb pressure plate with solid clutch disc. (hard
on the knee, not a clutch for traffic)

Exactly how did you have this engine set up in terms of heads, cam, and carbs
and did you dyno it at the crank or the wheels, and how much horse power did
you say that it turned out?

I'm trying to get a guess ti mate of how much mine is turning with an Engle
110, Weber 34s and CB 044 heads. My guess right now is 110-120.
