[tcb] Re: Why?

Back in the 70s somebody was selling pieces of 2x4 as "gas savers" you put
the piece of wood behind your gas pedal and it prevented you from stomping
down.  I asked my step dad about it and he remembers that during WWII they
indeed did put pieces of wood behind the gas pedals to save fuel.
