[tcb] Re: Learning to be less helpless

I didn't mean to sound snotty about wanting to be independent, I
really need all of the advice I can get from you guys. I'm going to
take what Will said, look in my books and stare at what I have so that
I understand what he said and then bring it to the mechanic and ask
more questions so that hopefully I'll see clearly how it all works. I
would like to someday be able to make judgement calls like - my king
and link pin assemblies are too worn... right now I don't know enough.

I want to be independent in the sense that I know the name of each
part, and why it's there and how it works and if it needs fixing, I
would like to have some clue about how it should be done. My desire
to be independent does not mean to be free from help from friends and
books.

i found it best to just get in there and constantly refer to all the help
books and friends. sure i have hit some rough spots on the road to success
but for the most part it has gone well...slow but well.
