Yeah Paul. You can't have advertising on the vehicle with antique plates and I thought about both my panel and your truck with the logos. But since that's part of the antiqueness of the vehicle and it's not real advertising I don't think anyone is going to say anything. As a side: In Nacogdoches county it cost $61 per year to register and the inspection is now whatever like $12 per year unless you are in one of those smog counties where it is more. So over 5 years you would save about $60 in inspection plus 4 years of not having to register at $61 per year. That's a total savings of about $300 every 5 years. I also have antique insurance with JC Taylor and the total premium cost for all of my VWs (8 insured) is about 1/3 of what it cost to insure my one Chevrolet pickup. singlecabboy <sealingwaxred@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: Ok ... I just went to the txdot site... You can run the year plate with antque reg. but it states that there can be no advertising on the vehicle ... I read that as :Sammie and I's advertizing is not for a real buiseness ? So should be ok ??? --- singlecabboy wrote: > Date: Thu, 17 Apr 2008 20:38:22 -0700 (PDT) > From: singlecabboy > Subject: Re: [tcb] Re: Safety inspection Question > To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > > I belive that is called Classic registration , Thats > what I have , cost every year and you have to get a > inspection every year , I hate to not use the 1961 > Texas Truck plate ... but that's alot of cash over > five years. Thanks Sammie ,I had know idea it was > that > way. > --- "Ten Over Surf Co." > wrote: > > > I don't have antique plates but do have the bus > > registered with 1961 plates...I guess that is the > > same > > thing, right? > > > > Thanks for the info. > > > > > > --- Neil wrote: > > > > > Same here...I've got the antique plates on my > > > 58...there are restrictions on drivin' with > these > > > plates, but I've never had any problem...If I DO > > get > > > pulled over, I'll just say I'm drivin' for > > > maintance! > > > > > > --- sammie smith > > > wrote: > > > > > > > Put antique plates on it and you don't have to > > > have > > > > it inspected.
