Was it closer to plants, bushes or trees? I've seen frosting on vehicles closer
to living vegetation.

That still doesn't explain why no other car in the parking lot had frost with a
pattern. They all had perfectly uniform non-patterned frost!

Here is an explanation, kinda. The hydrogen bond is important for the crystal
structure of ice, helping to create an open hexagonal lattice. In liquid water
each molecule is hydrogen bonded to approximately 3.4 other water molecules. In
ice each each molecule is hydrogen bonded to 4 other molecules. Therefor ice
has less density than water, and thus the pattern.

Chuck I know what causes frost! The question is what caused the snow-flake

Mobile AL Frost
sammie has shared photos with you.
OK, we were on our way to FL to escape the cold and stopped the first night in
Mobile AL. Next morning it is about 31 and crystal clear sky and this is what I
found on the Baja. Have never seen frost like this and no other car in the
parking lot had a pattern to the frost. Maybe it's because I had just waxed the
Baja before we left? Any good meteorologists on the list that can explain this.
