trey there is a lever inside that is broken , it can be replaced . terry

Got a buddy with a 70 double cab that has a problem with both front handles. When he goes to open the doors, he pulls on the handle latch thing and bam, door doesn’t open. I’ve never heard of this before. 

 
Anyone ever had to fix this – I don’t think its that little spring in there that you have to replace to keep from wiggling the key to lock and unlock –sounds like it might be a mechanical break inside the handle.
