Here is the article:

Most of the conversions, like the one he talks about are "duel" systems. Adding a LPG system to the gas system.
Here is some good reading on the subject:

As far as I know you are not allowed to mount the tank inside the passenger compartment. LPG is not as volatile as gasoline, you can expect some power loss. You could get by with the motor in Murray, but I shudder to think about driving Homer with 15% LESS horsepower.

diana and i are talking about buying her grandmothers r.v. it has a spacer between the carb and the manifold that is alot like a nitrous injector except it inject propane into the manifold along with the gas. this helps the big ass r.v. with the little ass 350 get up the hills at a respectful speed. suposedly there is a switch to shut off the gasoline completely and run it off of propane also but i don't know much about how that part works. i know diesel engines use butane as a boost source such as gas burners use nitrous. i don't know if our little 4 bangers could take the abuse though.

I read an article yesterday from Mother Earth News about converting the VW bus to propane. Since then I have talked to Dan and he says that this is old news. I knew about conversions to propane since the first oil panic in the 70s, but I never read an article that made it sound so easy. I like that the article says that you can switch back and forth to gas or propane.

If I did it, I would put the tank inside under the "bed". I have been told that you have to mount it outside. If that is a fact, then I wouldn't do it, Ugly.

I was told way back in the 70s that gasoline is necessary for lubrication. True False?

Since I am sure that many of you out there know all the pros and cons, I would appreciate filling me in.

Propane conversion, good? Bad?
