Course you could do what I do Sharon: I have one of those 14" VW spare
tire gas cans that I carry in my Westy. Course it's a walk thru and the
spare is in the back. Don't know if I would want it under the back of the
front seat or not with normal splitty spares. Then of course there is the
luggage rack. When I drove the Baja to CA the first time I carried a 1
gallon can of gas tied down to the luggage rack.

waiting and thought I could find another one soon. We'll see if I learned my
lesson on patience. I did have 4 aircooled rescue TCBer's behind me on the
road an hour or so back if Ronnie hadn't showed up first, I had already
called them, ahhh friends.

The Type II, if you're lucky, gets about 18 mpg on the highway. It holds
40 liters (about 10.5 gallons). Figure that out. I think, if my math is
correct, that's about 189 miles. Sharon, you were doing better than 18
mpg or you would have run out 2 miles short of the station instead of 1
mile.
