  Subject: [tcb] Bus Troubles

My neighbor has a 67 bus. He just got a new transmission including RGB's.
He put that in without problems. With the engine out he decided to clean it
and replace a few parts. On tuesday we put the tin on and on Wednesday we
stabbed it in. There was no spark. He had the electronic ignition and a
chrome Compufire coil and it ran great before. When the key was left on the
coil got really hot. We checked the wiring and still no spark to the
distributor. Yesterday, he got a set of points and a cheap Autozone coil. It
had spark and would fire for a few seconds and die. While the engine was out,
the valves and carb weren't touched. It seems to be a timing problem. We
double checked the wiring and timing, even using a light. At best we got a
rough idle and a few seconds of sputtering. Any thoughts or suggestions?
