Flasher relays are an easy item in just about any auto supply store, but in
12V.  I don't know about 6V.  You might try O'Reily's, they are pretty good on
some of the outdated stuff.  A tractor dealer might be a good source also since
there are still a lot of old 6V tractors out there.  Also, have you tried
Wolfburg West?

As to the hubcaps:  you just have to dig through the swaps till you find some
good originals or maybe try some better quality repops.  Again, try WW on the
repop caps.  I have several nice originals but don't really want to get rid of
them since they are so darn hard to find in decent shape.

Yes, I evidently have some reproductions. Robb has some taller ones on the rear
on his '64 and they fit my rears but my caps don't fit his rears. He also has
reproductions on the front. The PO must have been able to find only 2
originals. It appears tha tthe lip is taller on the originals than the repros
which is why they are hitting the nut

It turns out that Ronnie didn't update his web site - he is also out of 6v
flasher relays. He told me to get one from a tractor supply and re-wire it.
Doers anyone know what he is talking about? Seems like staying 6v is more of a
PITA that I thought it would be!

Let me correct one inaccuracy in my prior e-mail.  The hubcaps for all of the
wide 5 wheels are the same from the early split cars on for all of the hub-cap
clip wide 5 wheels.  The later, e.g. 66-67 Type I wheels, without the clips, do
take a different cap.

James:  You must have some repop caps.  Original caps for busses and all other
VWs are the same from way back there, like from 1950 on for all of the wide 5
wheels.  Most of the repops are pretty poor quality, not necessarily to the
correct shape, poor chrome, very light-weight metal, holes for hub-cap puller
are too small, and I have even seen some that did not have the VW emblem
stamped properly.  Me thinks you have some repop caps.  Get an original and try
to put it on there.  I bet it fits.  Assuming you have original 15" bus wheels
on there.

I looked at the ones that Robb has and they are a bit more rounded than mine.
Mine measure about 3" in depth. I'll see if I can measure his later today. I
tried putting mine on and they are hitting the nut and do not come close enough
to the clips.

James:  Don't understand the hubcap issue.  Unless they are repop hubcaps they
should fit.  If you are running 15" stock bus wheels original stock hubcaps
should fit just fine even if you are running a later big nut axle tranny.
There is not really any such thing as late and early hubcaps for a bus.

Well it turns out the center pin bushings are the original ones and were never
replaced. They are really worn, almost oval. It will cost me $125 plus parts.
I'm shooting for the Ft. Worth show as the 1st one for this Bus. Unfortunately
I just looked and the parts I desperately need are out of stock!

Somehow I ended up with a vent louvered trim set that is evidently for earlier
buses. They are too long. I got them from WW if anyone needs a set they are in
perfect condition.

Does anyone know where I can look for these trim pieces? I also need later
model hubcaps because the nut on the rear axles protrude too much to use the
correct year hubcap. Any ideas where to get some nice show quality ones besides
The Samba? Of course I have a set I can't use in perfect condition if anyone
needs a set : )

The last 2 parts I need I think I can get from Ronnie and a FLAPS. Any
suggestions appreciated!
