Yup, and that's why I'm not politically friendly when it comes to a lot
of organizations or companies that work in the blind world as it were. I
was in the institutionalised environment but I'm definitely one of the
ones who will fight back when necessary. Because you need to from time
to time and you do. Sometimes I'll just outright circumvent something I
don't care sometimes, if I feel it's necessary then yeah I'll do it
alright.

It's a 2 fold problem with our lot. In no particular order, we're taught
especially the pregens to just accept certain things and to be done with
it and this comes from various sources. Secondly a lot of blind people
are easily intimidated. This comes from I think a lot of the time by
living to much of a sheltered life in the hands of the institutions,
because they never allow you to grow emotionally and in other more
obvious ways. Also it's the fact that a lot of vi's feel vulnerable. So
a lot of people think that if you put up a fight then people will just
refuse to help you. The trouble is that never works because sometimes
unless you are willing to capsize the boat, then you aren't going to get
anywhere in life accept to be walked all over.

It is a pity that the visually impaired at the RNIB do not all get
together and say the organization needs a shake up. Years ago I went for
a job at the RNIB, I will not say what department, and the only reason I
was not selected was actually because I was visually impaired and don't
let anyone come on and say I am wrong because I went personally to the
man who interviewed me as his PA and he said to me that there were 3
people in for the job, a sighted person, myself and a deaf lady and he
felt that a sighted person was the only one who could do the job and had
that person turned it down then I was second choice. Well just as well
he would not have been a very nice

person to have worked with in any case if that was his attitude. Why I
did not go off and do something about it and ask him for his comments in
writing I will never know.

Well, we all know that the rnib are a bunch of money grabbing morons,
but then again I think the majority of the blindness related charaties
are though.

Eleanor, this is just un acceptable. Really outrageous. And I mean
outrageous. Have I expressed my feeling strongly enough? I'm glad I
didn't get mine from the RNIB. I bought Mine when I was travelling
abroad. I made sure that the warranty was an international one, BTW,
Tissot warranty is

international regardless from where you get your watch from. I noticed
After using it for few days that there was an issue with it. Sent it to
the dealer here in the UK. got it back repaired after a while but was
still not happy. Wrote to Tissot main offices in Switzerland saying that
I'm not pleased with my watch being repaired only after few days from
when I got it and I'd like a replacement. They asked me to post out the
watch and a month later they sent me a new one. That the kind of service
anyone would expect. I'm sorry for your terrible experience with the
RNIB.

Best,
Amro

I had one too Amro and when I accidentally dropped it twice within 5
minutes and it stopped working, sent it to RNIB they said they could not
repair it. I asked them to ask Tissot and they said they did. I did not
believe them. Then I asked to see where Tissot refused saying that it
would not release the part to RNIB. RNIB did not show me the
correspondance because of couorse there was none.It was a lovely Tissot
watch and cost £129.00 ladies one. I remember the gents one too, very
nice indeed.
