Eleanor,

it devalues it, as you buy a phone with Vodafone, they give you a standard license for free, then you walk out the door and pay us £50 to upgrade, now you are not Vodafone's client from Talks perspective, you are mine.

Everyone on list knows that Vodafone have not a clue as to how to support the Talks product, so now we, the dealers are expected to support a client not on the margin of a full license but a upgrade / transfer.

so firstly, I'm inclined to give a far less favourable amount of support to you, and secondly, I cannot afford to run such a comprehensive service, so you might get less experts on the phone, longer wait times etc.

its the same with any good or service, if you lower how much you pay for it, you get less for your money.

when I sell you something, if you ask me if you can have a discount or pay a little less, I shall ask you one question, how much quality would you like me to remove.

my service, being phone, e-mail, and the support e-mail lists, is based on a profit margin, if you devalue my margin, I have to devalue and decrease the service I offer.

gets you thinking ay?

I have been reflecting on what you said about devaluing Talks Premium by going to Vodafone and feel that surely this is not the case. Vodafone are prepared to offer blind customers (on contract) I think (but stand corrected) the opportunity of having a mobile phone which they can use straightaway once Talks has been put on. Now other mobile companies choose not to do this, therefore people wanting to use Talks on other networks do not have any other choice other than to pay the initial outlay of £150 sterling. However, that is a once off payment and these customers then benefit too from the £50 handset transfer of Talks. I would not say it was unfair or that it downgraded the product, merely the additional price paid for choosing a different network. That I said, I know people who have Vodafone put on the Talks and they subsequently move to another network. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Neil Barnfather - TalkNav" <forums@xxxxxxxxxxx>

Eleanor,

It was me who told it to Mark, I was under the impression that Nuance had changed the rules on this given that it effectively devalues the Premium product, but upon investigation, they apparently have U turned...

so, my apologies as I have said to Mark, its £50 for the upgrade across the board.

thanks.

Interesting that someone called Neil from TalkNav informed a potential customer to the contrary. Great it is all nsettled now though and that Neil has been informed of the misunderstanding. I hope the potential customer reads this and maybe will return to TalkNav for the upgrade from Vodafone standard. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Neil Barnfather - TalkNav" <forums@xxxxxxxxxxx>

you can buy the upgrade from Talks Standard to Premium for £50, its on our site and I've confirmed with Nuance that this is the case.

there has been an element of confusion over this and we apologise.

please feel free to use the web-site to buy this or call to arrange.

many thanks.

Dear All

I've just upgraded from a Nokkia 6210 to a E5 using the free version of Talks installed by Vodafone.

However, as I've now discovered and several have advised me on this list, the standard Talks version will not work on the Nokkia browser when going on-line to the internet, although Talks works with all the other phone functions such as contacts and texting etc.

I have been in touch with the technical services at talknav.com, who now advise me I need to spend £150 buying Talks and having the premium version. I then understand if I want to upgrade to a new mobile phone in the future I will only have to spend £50.

Vodafone have said they will put £50 of credit on my account but I suspect will not go to £150, so I'm left with either trying another model of hone with the free version of Talks from Vodafone or considering an Iphone with the built in accessibilities.

Has anyone else been in this situation and what other mobile phones are people using on the internet with a speech programme?

Thanks

Mark

mobile in the future I will only need to
