Dear Sila,

Very well-put, Sila; I wish we could take over a major thoroughway in the city and let the general public feel what it is to have barriers we face every day they seem not to be cognizant of, despite our educational efrforts, but I refuse to stay home; I'm going to do what I need to do being extra cautious, of course.

P.S. Joe: I know the Lighthouse would be thrilled to help you with your skills which may help you regain your confidence.

Hi Joe,
Your message makes me sad. I was afraid right after I got struck by a car that I'd feel this way but ... I, for one REFUSE to stop walking outside. I REFUSE to always be accompanied by another person be they sighted or blind. I REFUSE to be controlled by automobiles, inconsiderate and uneducated drivers, or my fear. While I totally understand and respect your point of view, I do not share it at all. I hope there are others out there who feel as I do. Without us persistent, possibly crazy blind pedestrians, some of whom don't have any other choice, driving etiquette might possibly disappear all together. Be aware and take care but don't forego your freedom to walk.
Sila

Yes, I don't know what the blind community around the Tallahassee area is
going to do. I have quick walking outside in the city of Tallahassee all
together with out at least one visual person with me. It is just dangers. I
do most of my walking in the malls and stores now. It is much safer and
cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter and whole lot less pollen in
the spring and fall. It is Just all around the best for me . Just my
thoughts. Also I don't live in Tallahassee but if I did I would just take a taxies or bum from a friend or relative. Not going to do the bus transit in
Tallahassee. Just my thoughts.

Hi all,

I'm sorry to report to you, coming from today's Democrat, that a woman was struck while walking on E. Madison yesterday afternoon by a driver who kept
going and left the seen of the accident. The woman was in critical
condition at the time the article was written.

"Let's be careful out there!"

Chip
