A student from the school was killed this morning when crossing Springhill Road to get to the bus, said Melinda McBride, spokeswoman for Leon County Sheriff Office. According to McBride, LCSO's traffic unit is still working the scene. No additional information has been released. Traffic continues to be blocked on Springhill Road from Capital Circle to Springsax Drive. 9:12 a.m. The pedestrian killed in this morning's crash was a Rickards High School student. Rickards Principal Michelle Gayle and Superintendent Jackie Pons are both on scene. "Our thoughts and prayers are focused on the family," said Pons. The name of the student has not yet been released. LCSO is currently preparing to notify the family. 8:51 a.m. A juvenile was killed in this morning's crash on Springhill Road, said Melinda McBride, spokesman for the Leon County Sheriff's Office. A bus was stopping and the pedestrian was crossing the road to board the bus when they were struck by a vehicle traveling north on Springhill. Springhill Road is still closed from Capital Circle to Springsax Drive. Check back for more details. 7:23 a.m. Springhill Road is closed from Capital Circle to Springsax Drive following a fatal traffic crash, said James McQuaig, spokesman for Leon County Sheriff's Office. LCSO's traffic homicide unit is currently on scene investigating the crash. The crash occurred on Springhill Road near the Sprinel Road intersection.
