Sila,
I don't think right on red and bus stop announcements are part of this
discussion. Yes they are very important, but lets keep the discussion on
target. we all do want those things, but if we spread our selves too thin,
then we won't accomplish any thing.

My list of questions is not in any particular order as yet. Please look it
over and feel free to suggest other questions or share opinions as they
pertain to NOVA2010. Thanks to William for obtaining some information
about the map. As he says, "It has been that descriptions brings up more
questions than answers, so here it is"
Communication clearly is the key and we need to go to this table prepared.
1) How will decentralization affect Dial-A-Ride patrons who don't live
within 1/4 mile of the fixed bus route?
2) Have there been studies of high traffic routes and stops to try to keep
them included in the decentralized project so as not to disenfranchise
those who are disabled, elderly, have small children or in some other way
not able to
walk a longer distance? Examples of this would include the Malls, housing
developments, grocery stores and the like.
3) Are you studying transfer points which necessitate people being
required to cross busy or hard to cross intersections and helping to
accommodate them?
4) Would you be willing to assist us in lobbying the legislators for the
abolishment of "Right on Red" turns?
5) Have you studied the sidewalk situations or lack there of around high
traffic areas?
6) Are there plans to announce, both (internally and externally) the bus
number/route when it arrives at any given transfer point?
7) Are there plans to write a description of the routes i.e. which streets
and directions it will travel as opposed to a graphical map?
8) Are there plans for a textual/written description for the location of
each stop, (bench, sign or shelter)?
9) Who is your targeted audience?
