you.


30th Anniversary Party Changed to 11/23/13

The Lighthouse 30th Anniversary Celebration has been rescheduled for
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 23, from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Lighthouse of the
Big Bend, 3071 Highland Oaks Terrace, Tallahassee.  A fun, family-friendly
celebration is planned with great food, music, and prizes, so don't forget

Award Nominations Needed!

The deadline for nominations for the 2013 Paula Bailey Inspirational
Community Member Award is AUGUST 30, 2013! Please consider nominating your
choice for this award to be announced at the Ninth Annual Paula Bailey
Dining in the Dark event on October 13, 2013. The form is available at

Announcement: Senator Bill Montford to Host 10/13 Dining in the Dark

We are thrilled to share that Senator Montford has graciously agreed to host
the Ninth Annual Paula Bailey "Dining in the Dark" benefit, Sunday, October
13, 5:30-8:30 p.m., at the University Center Club! This event will raise
funds to assist children and adults who are blind and visually impaired. At
this unique dinner you will experience food, drink and conversation as you
may never have before - without your sight! In pitch black darkness your
other senses are stimulated to savor the smell, taste and texture of your
dining experience. Conversation becomes more interesting, and ultimately,
this experience will expand your understanding of what individuals who are
blind experience throughout their lives.

There is a reception before dinner with the ever-popular popular basket
raffle. The Leon County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team will once again wait on
you with their night vision goggles. We have an exciting new menu and
tactile 'tic tac toe' to play in the dark between courses. After dinner the
Paula Bailey "Inspirational Community Member Award" will be presented.

Tickets to the event or a scholarship are $60 each. Buy a reserved table for
eight for $600, or a table for ten for $700. Just send a check payable to
the Lighthouse to 3071 Highland Oaks Terrace, Tallahassee, FL 32301. ON-LINE
donations are also now accepted: visit our website at

the link to "Network for Good" to donate by major credit card or PayPal.
