      Pedestrian Workshop Series Continues

This Wednesday, Nov. 17, the Tallahassee Senior Center will host the
second in a series of pedestrian workshops. The event runs from 1:30-5:30 p.m.
It is free to attend.

The goal of the workshop is to help improve pedestrian safety for adults
of all ages in our area. Workshop discussions and walkabouts will highlight:

        a.. Common injury situations,
b.. How education and enforcement can improve safety,
c.. Strategies to encourage more walking in our community and
d.. How Tallahassee and Leon County can become more pedestrian
friendly.
The workshop includes observational walks at the Senior Center, along
North Monroe, in Midtown and in Lake Ella and Frenchtown neighborhood areas.

Fifty-five citizens attended the first in the Pedestrian Safety Workshop
series held in September at the Florida Department of Transportation's Burns
Building. They represented Tallahassee residents and diverse organizations,
communities and backgrounds from Leon and surrounding counties. The next event
in the series will be held in 2011.

The Pedestrian Safety Workshop is sponsored by Tallahassee Senior
Services and Foundation, Leon County Senior Outreach and Positive Aging
Communities for a Lifetime. For workshop information, please contact Beth
