Responsibilities: This position is responsible for: * Providing advice and counsel to the Senate President, or other professional staff authorized by the President, regarding IT services and needs for the Florida Senate. * Working collaboratively with the Florida House of Representatives and joint legislative offices to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Florida Legislature's shared IT resources. * Coordinating services provided for the Florida Senate by the Office of Legislative Information Technology Services (OLITS). * Establishing, facilitating, and participating in IT management and governance structures and processes. * Coordinating the development of uniform IT tools for Senate offices and policies and procedures for deviations from such standards. Examples Of Work Performed: Serve as senior IT professional staff person for the Florida Senate. * Develop or enhance the Senate information technology strategy. * Direct Senate information technology services, including planning and delivery of major IT projects, operations, and support. * Provide contract and project management services for IT projects for the Florida Senate. * Develop or coordinate the development of appropriate needs assessment tools and performance measurements. * Review written and oral communications including, but not limited to, IT procurements and IT contracts. * Consult with Senate committees, joint legislative offices, and all Senate local and district offices to gather information and determine requirements for Senate IT systems. * Recommend and oversee delivery of new information technologies within the Florida Senate. * Develop plans and strategies for IT replacement and upgrade needs. * Review and recommend Senate and legislative IT budgets. * Ensure data integrity and system security in an open government environment. * Ensure necessary disaster recovery procedures by recommending and implementing appropriate policies and procedures. * Respond to inquiries from Senators and Senate staff. * Provide counsel and technical guidance to Senate committees and offices as necessary. Minimum Qualifications: * A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, business or public administration, or relevant field, and ten years of progressively responsible information systems experience. * Progressively responsible information systems experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. * Any combination of progressively responsible information systems experience and postsecondary training in disciplines as described above totaling fourteen years.
