The Commission on Ethics is an agency of the Legislative Branch of Florida government that is responsible for investigating possible violations of Florida's ethics laws, advising government officials and employees about their responsibilities under those laws, and implementing the State's financial disclosure laws. The work involves assisting the Commission's Executive Director in coordinating administrative tasks and assignments as well as independently maintaining the Commission's website, creating the Commission's forms and publications, supervising administrative and clerical staff, and communicating with the public and the press. Examples of Work Performed: Performs special assignments, research, and report preparation. Supervises administrative and clerical staff. Performs general office management duties. Assists the Executive Director and Commission staff in handling daily administrative duties and acts in matters where authority has been delegated. Processes a variety of correspondence, investigates subject matter, and prepares replies. Prepares confidential correspondence, secures information necessary for preparing replies, and answers telephone inquiries to relieve supervisor from routine assignments. Answers questions from the public, public officers and employees, and the media about the ethics laws and the Ethics Commission's procedures. Uses Adobe Dreamweaver, InDesign, and Acrobat software to maintain the Commission's website and create forms and publications, as necessary. Assists Commission staff with computer-related problems. Defines and investigates problems; formulates methods of resolution. Assists in planning Commission meetings and conferences. Performs other related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of Microsoft Office computer programs. Knowledge of administrative principles and practices. Knowledge of research techniques. Ability to pay attention to detail and review work for accuracy and quality of content. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the demands of the public. Ability to work cooperatively as a team member and to contribute to the efficient internal functioning of the unit. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data. Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of administrative experience. A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience.
