        This is a round-up of news and announcements related to the
        Scheme programming language, mostly taken from newsgroups,
        mailing lists and web sites that I'm aware of.  Feel free to
        send me more.  The aim is to publish in multiple formats on the

        New Scheme Requests For Implementation drafts were received
        for "Primitives for expressing iterative lazy algorithms" and
        "Ellipsis in Macro-Generating SYNTAX-RULES Macros"

WebIt! news

        WebIt is a module collection for PLT scheme for creating XML,
        HTML and CSS. The current release is 20030713 and the current
        release of ssax-rsxml happened on 9 August 2003.

Gauche 0.7.2

        Gauche is a scheme interpreter designed to be suitable for
        system scripting. This release adds dbm.fsdbm and improves
        gauche.charconv, gauche.process, gauche.net, www.cgi and many
        others.

GNU TeXmacs 1.0.2.4

        GNU TeXmacs is a scientific document processor inspired by Emacs
        and LaTeX, but built with Guile Scheme. This is the first 1.0.2
        release reported by SWN and contains many improvements over the
        1.0.1 series.

Quack 0.22

        Quack is an Emacs mode for editing scheme and working with scheme
        interpreters. This release updates Chicken manuals support,
        adds PLT error message navigation for compile, fixes XEmacs
        menus and introduces quack-newline-behavior setting.

eguile 1.3

        eguile is an interpreter that evaluates guile scripts in html
        processing instructions.  This version includes a bug fix for the
        "chopping off the last bit" bug.

Chicken 1.17

        Chicken is a Scheme compiler under a BSD-style licence. This
        release contains many bug fixes, new features, improved
        scheduling, removal of special cases and brings the version
        number back to 2 decimal places.

New Gauche GTK and GL bindings

        These releases are from early October for Gauche 0.7.2.  They are
        Gauche-gl 0.3 and Gauche-gtk 0.3.1.  There is also a new wiki
        page for contributed modules for Gauche scheme.

Swindle 20030913

        Swindle is a module collection for PLT Scheme that includes a
        CLOS-like object system and much more.  It is under the LGPL
        and this release is for PLT 205.

Bugloo 0.3.0

        Bugloo is a command line based debugger. User can control the
        debugger by typing Scheme-like expression into a prompt. For
        the sake of simplicity, Bugloo includes a debugging environment
        for Emacsen

GIMP 1.3.17

        The GNU Image Manipulation Program is a sophisticated graphics
        editor with the ability to run scheme scripts on images.
        This release includes many feature enhancements and bug fixes.

guile-gobject 0.5.3

        Guile bindings for glib, pango, atk, gdk, and gtk+.  There are
        no large changes in this release. The author uses it daily in
        his guile bindings for gstreamer.  Download Link.

DS-GROK-LC at CCC

        Discordian Section of the Grand Recursive Order of the Knights
        of the Lambda Calculus will meet on the Chaos Communication Camp,
        7.-10. of August, near Berlin.

Schemix version 0.2.1

        Schemix is a Linux loadable kernel module that allows you to
        access kernel functions from a scheme interpreter.  This release
        improves support for Schemix in scheme, includes more of R4RS
        and simplifies the build system.

Bigloo 2.6a

        Bigloo is a practical Scheme compiler.  2.6a is a major release
        introducing experimental .NET bytecode generation. The compiler
        is now able to produce (i) native code (ii) JVM bytecode
        (iii) .NET bytecode.  The release also includes new libraries,
        improvements and bug fixes.
