[studiorecorder] Re: Mixing files

Larry, this is what I have been doing, and in doing so and in knowing about
audio, I realize I can't set both volumes at 0 DB even though I have faded
out one of them. I have often just had to futz around to get a
mixed recording without clipping. Of course, one can always set the mix
volumes low enough to avoid this and then adjust the volume of the total mix
afterward, but is there a rule of thumb here about where one sets these
volume controls, or does it totally depend on the sound levels one is
mixing?

thanks.

Neal

I would just make all those level adjustments to the music file, put it on
the clipboard, then mix it with the originel podcast with the X command.

Hi Larry or Rob, can we use a specific example here for clarification?

Let's say that I have a piece of music I want to use as an introduction. I
also have an already recorded file of a podcast. I want to play 8 seconds
of the music before the podcast begins, and I want to have the music fade
out for three seconds before the podcast begins. At some point in the first
10 or so seconds of the podcast, I want to totally fade out the music.

What is the easiest way to do this.

Thanks for your help. I think this will clarify at least this example for a
lot of people.

Neal

Hi Mika.

I prefer using the X command to mix a piece that is on the clipboard, but it
really depends on the specific situation.

Rob,
So which of these ways (or another way) were you recommending in genral for
the simplest way to add music to beginning or end of a podcast?

Thx,
Mika
