yes. Studio recorder is not built for this work to my knowledge. the pitch
change works much like the vary speed control on a tape recorder or turn table.
it changes the speed of the playback. this means the pitch and tempo of the
track will be effected. Sound forge will do it, but i’ve never found it does a
good job. I’ve played around with all the modes, and you can really hear the
resampling. How ever others may have found a better way of using it. I’m happy
to be corrected here. first thing would be to try the other suggestion from
curtis. Audacity. I personally have never used it. But i believe it is very
accessible. Maybe it might just get the job done nicely. Worth a go i reckon.
Personally i use an external plug in from waves called sound shifter. You can
bring the song up or down by 3 or 4 semitones before you notice any major
artefacts or noises in the song. how ever a lot of music sounds strange if you
move it to much. Only issue with this is studio recorder does not support
external plug ins. it was not built for this type of work. So you’d have to run
it through sound forge or something like that. But i don’t know how accessible
the interface of the plug would be through sound forge. Personally i’ve only
used it over protools on my mac and through sonar on a windows machine. If you
can get it to work it does a great job. it’s around $100 i think. But you can
download a demo and try it out if you want. But i’d look at audacity first, and
go from there.

IN SR, decreasing the pitch will decrease the tempo since the algorithm
is not built for making the
pitch change while keeping the temp o the same. You'd need another
package like sound forge or Audacity -----

Hi, Everyone.
I was thinking I could use Studio Recorder to change the pitch of a
piece of music I purchased--need to sing the piece a step lower than
the key on the purchased karaoke track. Would changing the pitch
affect the tempo of the track significantly? Is there a better option
to do what I need to do?
Thanks,
