Since the admin data is stored separately from the database files.
Are the database files there ?
Can you get to the database directly via psql ?
I had this problem once.
The database files were corrupt from a power brown-out which crashed the
computer and forced a hard reboot.
Fortunately I had a backup from the previous day so i just recreated the
database.
Hopefully this is not your problem.
Of course it has to happen on a friday...good luck.
