[SL] could not connect to server

This just happened all of a sudden for no apparent reason. I tried logging
into the system today and got this message after the login.pl screen:
Error!
could not connect to server: No such file or directory

I can go to the admin or login screens, and can make changes in the admin
screens. I cannot update the datasets.

I was using the system yesterday with no errors.

Any ideas?
