All anyone who uses Linux has to do to find where certain files are on
their system is to type: locate pg_hba.conf. If you download and install
postgresql the default location that it is installed is
/usr/local/pgsql. As far as the LSB goes, well, you probably don't want
to know what I think of the garbage. Anyway the location where files are
installed in no way locks people into their version by making the
versions different so people will not move. I use Slackware Linux, it is
based on BSD *nix. RedHat is based on Sys V *nix. Two totally different
ways of doing things (however, if SCO has its way, all Linux will soon
be BSD based). Learn your commands and things will be much easier.
