Site of the Day for Tuesday, July 7, 2009

        powerWISE

Today's site, a project of Canada's Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, and
the
province of Ontario Power Authority, with the collaboration of one of the
country's
most esteemed scientists, Dr. David Suzuki, offers a feel-good presentation
replete
with suggestions to reduce energy consumption. Gentle Subscribers will find
hundreds of practical tips to conserve power around the home.

"Want to do something about the growing demand for energy and its impact on our
environment? It's easy ... with tools and tips to make the changes you need to
conserve energy without impacting your way of life. Energy conservation starts
at
home, grows into your neighbourhood and then, well, there's no slowing it down!
At
powerWISE, we really do think that conservation of electricity is up to
concerned
individuals like you; you really do have the power!" - from the website

The site kicks off with a brief video tour hosted by Dr. Suzuki to highlight
various aspects of the exhibit. Among the categories are those dealing with
lighting, hot water, cooling, windows and doors, appliances, insulation and the
multi-purpose seasonal and conservation sections. Each contains suggestions, and
frequently, comments and criticisms, submitted by registered members of the
site.
An additional feature presents current articles on energy saving ideas and
applications from around the world in the News Room department, as well as those
previously posted, in the archives.

Stride to the site for an upbeat presentation with a green appeal at:
