Solar System Exploration Home Page - NASA

Today's site from NASA offers a dazzling presentation on that spot on the
universe we humans call home -- the Solar System. Gentle Subscribers who
enjoy brilliant images from space along with a helping of the latest
scientific news of exploration and discovery, will find both at this site.

"The Solar System Exploration Home Page is part of NASA's Office of Space
Science and describes NASA's program to explore the solar system." - from
the website

This richly detailed exhibit provides information not only on the planets
but on other bodies present in the solar system, such as meteoroids and the
less-than-well-known Kuiper Belt Objects, while fabulous graphics enrich
the material. Current space missions like MESSENGER (MErcury Surface, Space
ENvironment, GEochemistry and Ranging) and Rosetta are documented as well.
Little gems of space exploration details are found throughout the site,
like the photo from the 1981 Soviet Venera 13 Descent Craft from its Venus
landing. Among the features in the news archives is a fascinating article
describing research on global-wide wildfires apparently generated by the
famous 10-kilometer-wide asteroid or comet which struck earth 65 million
years ago. A helpful timeline of the history of space flight is also
available.

Soar to the site for great presentation on space exploration and the solar
system at:
