Lady of the Zoos
Today's site, from writer and advocate for Enrichment in Zoos, Stephanie Mayo,
offers information about zoos around the world. Gentle Subscribers will
discover the changes which have occurred in zoo management and orientation over
the years.
"My main focus ... is promoting the conservation advances from zoological parks
around the world. With a passion for wildlife, conservation, travel and a
life-long love of visiting zoos ... I started this blog to share my visits to
zoos and aquariums around the world, educate the public about our world's
amazing animals ... as well as promote conservation and exploration of Wild
Spaces." - from the website
Ms Mayo's dedicated support for animals in zoo environments is engagingly
revealed in this blog. Highlighted by splendid photography, the articles call
attention to the efforts being made worldwide to transform the environments of
zoo animals so they can enjoy an improved quality of life. Currently featured
on the homepage are stories on the Antwerp Zoo, 10 Reasons to Visit the Genoa
Aquarium, and the Bristol Zoo, one of the world's oldest. Extensive notes on
the Durrell Wildlife Park located on the British Island of Jersey, created by
writer and naturalist Gerald Durrell, showcase bats and lemurs, as well as
various primates -- mountain gorillas, macaques, and gibbons. The Categories
notation on the right sidebar leads to a drop down menu with information on
more than two dozen zoos, from Budapest, Hungary to Toronto, Canada.
