        The Punch Cartoon Library

During its more than 150 year history the British magazine "Punch" has been
enjoyed by readers around the world. Perhaps its most celebrated feature
has been its cartoons, many of which are now available online.

"Since its launch in July 1841 Punch has published more than 500,000
cartoons by some of the world's finest cartoonists. There are witty
commentaries on everyday life, hardhitting political satire - and some of
the just plain funniest cartoons ever published. The Punch Cartoon Library
gives you access to this unique collection - the best and largest
repository of cartoon art on the globe. . . Now the cream of the collection
is available on the web for research, licensing, or for your own framable
Punch Cartoon Print. . . Cartoons are searchable by category, artist,
publication year or keyword. . . from 1841 onwards. Or enter a word or
short phrase in the keyword field (like "pet-lover" or "social event") and
click GO. " - from the website

This is a delightful site for browsing; apart from the cartoons themselves,
there are enjoyable features on the "History of Punch" and the "History of
the Cartoon". The "Cartoon Galleries" offer thematically arranged
presentations on a range of subjects from love to cats.
