        Based on the Book

Today's site, from the enthusiastic and helpful folks of Mid-Continent Public
Library in Missouri, offers a diligently corralled list of hundreds of books
which
have been reconstituted as movies. Gentle Subscribers will find an easily
navigated
database with essential information clearly presented.

" 'Based on the Book' is a compilation of over 1,250 books, novels, short
stories,
and plays that have been made into motion pictures. Utilizing the Internet Movie
Database as the authority, all movies in this collection have been released as
feature-length films in the United States, in English, since 1980." - from the
website

This simply designed site provides a convenient resource to find book titles and
authors which served as the origins of various American films over the past
thirty
years. Consisting of the movie title and release year, along with the written
work's author and title, the database highlights instances where the title of a
book may differ from its corresponding movie title. Primarily a browsable
collection, locating a specific item can be done alphabetically by author,
title of
either the movie or book or the year the movie was released. In addition, the
general search box at the page allows website specific searches, which will also
locate an entry in the Based on the Book database.
