Glad to have your support – how good can it get on a June day, with your
mates on the golf course, while supporting two military-based charities at
once, with breakfast and lunch included and a bunch of swag for $99…
Appreciate the thought of possibly donating to a tee sponsorship but I might
have to roll that back a bit given it’s $1K. If we have three foursomes that
would be another $85 average – a tad too steep I’m thinking. That said, 12
SOGAGGers laying waste to hill and dale, along with all fermented libations
and food within arm’s reach at all times is pretty darn good participation.
(1) Yes, please sign up individually and put down “SOGAGG” as the other
foursome names and Divot and I will ensure it gets codified on the back end
once they’re all received, so we’re all together on the course.
(2) Actually, sufficient time has NOT passed to clear our suspension but
I’ve posted a $25,000 surety bond to cover any damaged equipment or inflicted
injuries during the day. The bad news is, just like bail, that is only 10%
of the anticipated carnage but the good news is I posted it under Chi Chi’s
credit card number, which I memorized from the last time he visited us from
SOGAGG-South…
(3) If I have my facts correct, of the 16 GAGGers in the Society, 13
continue to don unwashed apparel and two actually washed them, but only by
mistake when accidently thrown into the laundry hamper rather than being
stood in a corner. So, how we ‘gonna slice that up, I ask you….? By the by,
only 15 of us actually have shirts, remember? Not to worry, after several
shots of joy juice on the front nine, Mike normally plays on with no shirt at
all, which requires me to refer you to No. 2 above.
(4) Deduct away, my good man. And, don’t forget, travel mileage to and
from charitable events is $0.14 per mile. If you don’t take it, congress
will…L

Wonderful initiative!!! Not sure what my schedule might be in June, but
please count me in!!! Happy to support donation as well. Couple of quick
questions:
(1) How do you want to handle registration? Should we just individually
sign up and put “SOGAGG” down as the other foursome names? Or do you want to
take a tally and then assign foursomes before we register?
(2) Think that a sufficient amount of time has passed since we last played
Salt Creek so our suspension period has probably been lifted, but just in
case do we still wear disguises?
(3) Some of us have washed our shirt already this year, but others are
diligently working to produce the next strain of antibiotics (a noble effort
in support of the fight against the “superbug”). Might we be able to
separate those two groups into different pairings? (We know who’s who
here…..)
(4) I write off ALL of my golf as a tax deductible expense (as the lost
golf balls alone meet the 2% AGI threshold….). But wondering if we could
also make arrangements for the beer cart to provide receipts. Just a
thought….

SOGAGG COLLEAGUES,
As Divot and I have mentioned during earlier outings, the first annual Joint
United Through Reading/Support The Enlisted Project joint charity golf
tournament. We would like to set this up as our June outing.
This is a unique opportunity that allows for supporting two great charitable
organizations at once and it involves a fine day of food, fun and golf, which
is pretty hard to beat. United Through Reading
(www.unitedthroughreading.org) and Support The Enlisted Project
(www.stepsocal.org) are teaming up to conduct a fundraising golf tourney on
June 23rd and it’s going to be a fine day, attended by great organizations,
your community colleagues and involving a lot of great fellowship, all in
support of our military families.
Given that UTR and STEP each have a specific focus in supporting our military
personnel and their families, and given that SOGAGG feels strongly that
supporting our military and their families is an important part of our
mission (besides bad golf), Divot and I wanted to pass this on to you for
your consideration. I’ve attached information concerning the date, the
sponsorship availabilities and also the individual participation registration
form. We’re hoping for three foursomes from the group and maybe even add a
few dollars each to get a hole sponsorship. We would greatly appreciate it
if you would join us in supporting this worthwhile event and, of course,
there is tax deductibility here.
