For over a year now, I've been quietly producing a tech-oriented call-in "show" with Pip Coburn, who recently left his gig at UBS to start <http://coburnventures.com/> Coburn Ventures. We call this series the <http://www.yi-tan.com/> Yi-Tan Tech Community Calls. (Yi-tan means "conversations about change.") So far, we've covered topics ranging from the <http://www.yi-tan.com/wiki/yi-tan/internet_responses_to_disasters> post-Katrina grassroots responses to <http://www.yi-tan.com/wiki/yi-tan/chinas_transformation> China, <http://www.yi-tan.com/wiki/yi-tan/diy_everything> DIY, <http://www.yi-tan.com/wiki/yi-tan/digital_natives_-_kids> kids' online behavior, <http://www.yi-tan.com/wiki/yi-tan/digital_natives_-_games> games, <http://www.yi-tan.com/wiki/yi-tan/ajax_and_the_web_platform> Ajax, <http://www.yi-tan.com/wiki/yi-tan/open_source_and_innovation> open source, the <http://www.yi-tan.com/wiki/yi-tan/the_tale_of_the_long_tail> Long Tail, <http://www.yi-tan.com/wiki/yi-tan/tags_and_tagging> tagging, <http://www.yi-tan.com/wiki/yi-tan/from_sat_radio_to_podcasting> podcasting and assessments of <http://www.yi-tan.com/wiki/yi-tan/ceo_for_a_day_-_google> Google and <http://www.yi-tan.com/wiki/yi-tan/skype_me> Skype's strategies. You can see the whole list <http://www.yi-tan.com/wiki/yi-tan/weekly_call_archive> here. Here's how it works: Every Monday at 10:30 Pacific Time, Pip and I invite a guest or two or three to join 25 to 35 friends and co-conspirators on a conference call that lasts 30 minutes. It's an open mike call, so people jump in to ask questions or offer answers. We mute our lines when not speaking, so it's not chaos, but we still get some odd noises. It's fun. Please join us. To hear about the calls, subscribe to this blog or (better still) join the <http://groups-beta.google.com/group/Yi-Tan> Yi-Tan list. posted by Jerry at <http://www.sociate.com/blog/archives/2005_10_01_archive.html#11290134069639 9821> 4:34 PM
