Did the tongue test and no tingles. Do I reheat and see what happens

Pauline, do the tongue test on it to see if it is dried lye. Just a dab and if
your tongue tingles, then it is lye and I wouldn't keep it. Although you could
rebatch.

Have some soap curing but it is gritty on the outside like dried lye. Have
tried to rub it off with little success. Is it salvageable?

Oh Jan, don't fret about soap....it's all good no matter what. Just keep up
the good work (making soap) never, I mean never waste it, it is always
salvageable. I made a soap that was far too dark, so I grated it and sprinkled
it into a white soap, it turned out fantastic - try it, the ways to use soap is
endless.
From one who knows....been there...done that lol

Hi Jan & Everyone
I got the spotting too with my violet dye. However I've decided to think it's
different and interesting because I've never seen soap like it before. I'm
also reassured to know that there are other options I can try to get a more
uniform purple look. Thanks for asking all the questions cause now I've got
other things to try.
I've tried the aquamarine pink dye but I don't think I put enough in as there
is just a suggestion of pinky colour. By the way Gina thanks v. much for the
rose fragrance oil. It is gorgeous and I'll be getting some from you soon.
I'm looking forward to having a few more experiments. My hotwater cupboard is
getting really full of soap drying so I think I'll try making much smaller
batches.

I don't mind it at all but I was just wondering why it happened, next time I'll
mix with some soap.
How can I put a picture on, without belonging to facebook? Anyone, can I?

....and yet for me.... I quite like some of the colour spotting ......some of
which has occurred in my own soap making and some of which I've seen in soaps
made by other people. Guess it's a personal preference really...

Can I do anything about it now or do I just have to leave it? It is a really
deep purple, I've just taken them out of the molds, the colour is nice, as
purple is my favourite colour, I love it, but it has spots.
How long do you or others leave their soap in the molds, some of mine have
stuck even after they've been in the freezer for 10 mins or so. The mold is
detailed and takes some of the pattern of the soap sometimes.

Hmmm....not familiar with them. I hate colour spotting
I like to use the lakes from Aromatics and More, especially
for the reds and pinks. D&C40 is a good true red
