> Ha Noi (VNA) - A total of 4 billion VND, including 1 billion VND in cash
and 3 billion VND in pledges, was raised for Agent Orange/Dioxin victims
from a live TV show on Thursday night.
>
> The fundraiser, which was broadcast live by television channel 1 from Ha
Noi, the central city of Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, included talks with
Major General Dang Vu Hiep, President of the Viet Nam Agent Orange/Dioxin
Victims Association, and painter Bui Cong Khanh, whose video images of AO
child victims shocked the international community and helped garner 500
signatures abroad in support of AO victims.
>
> The show also saw an appearance of lawyer Le Duc Tiet, who talked about
the Vietnamese AO victims' lawsuit against US chemical firms producing
defoliant chemicals sprayed by the US troops in Viet Nam during the war.
>
> AO victims also joined the fundraiser, including visually-impaired Thanh
Tung, who played his work "Song Trang" (Moon River) on "dan bau"
(monochord), and Nguyen Xuan Lam, who, though only 83 cm tall, is currently
studying at two colleges.
>
> The Ha Noi Conservatoire's orchestra, and singers Phuong Thao, Ngoc Le,
Anh Tuyet and Quang Ly, also contributed to the appeal to kindhearted people
from all parts of the country and abroad to help AO victims surmount their
difficulties to integrate into the community.-Enditem
