the past 10 years provided nearly 25,000 members with loans worth more than
53 billion VND to develop production.

> Thanks to the loans, which came from the National Fund for Job Generation,
many families of the blind have earned stable incomes and their living
conditions have markedly improved, thus helping to reduce the rate of the
association's poor members to 20 percent in 2004 from 30 percent in 2001.

> In the 2006-2010 period, the association will ask the State to provide 3-5
billion VND in loans per year for its members, particularly those of working
ages.

> In addition to the supply of loans for production development, the
association has established 200 production establishments run by the blind,
which employ about 3,000 workers. Many of these establishments have earned
increasing annual revenues. For example, the centre for vocational training
in the production of bamboo articles and office stationery  in Da Nang City
turns over more than 2 billion VND a year and provides stable jobs for more
than 50 people with an average income of 500,000 VND per worker per month.
