I think you should upgrade to 12.1 instead of mixing 12.0 and 12.1
packages, Slackware original instructions:
http://workaround.ch/pub/slackintosh/12.1/UPGRADE.TXT should work very
well.
(ok, do not take them too literally: we do not have lilo ;-) )
