That's correct.

Could you post the output of 'mac-fdisk -l /dev/hdX' ?

It should look like this:

# mac-fdisk -l /dev/hda
/dev/hda
# type name length base ( size ) system /dev/hda1 Apple_partition_map Apple 63 @ 1 ( 31.5k) Partition map /dev/hda2 Apple_Bootstrap bootstrap 1600 @ 64 (800.0k) NewWorld bootblock /dev/hda3 Apple_UNIX_SVR2 blroot 41943040 @ 1664 ( 20.0G) Linux native /dev/hda4 Apple_UNIX_SVR2 scratch 270637104 @ 41944704 (129.0G) Linux native

Block size=512, Number of Blocks=312581808
DeviceType=0x0, DeviceId=0x0

(As far as i can remember, setup searches for the string 'Linux native')

This smells like a problem of your Mail client ;-)

I know that the freelists.org html archive is uncool.. hmm..
how about subscribing slackintosh-users to gmane?

I read Slackintosh Freelist mail with my web browser on Windows/Linux and the experience is kind of "old school".
I'm not familiar with gmane - I'll look into it.

Marco,

I just installed a new hard drive, Seagate 5400 RPM 8MB cache - I'll recompile the kernel and let you know how long it takes. I was thinking that one day I should get a 300 MHz CPU to replace the 233 w/512 cache, but 300 MHz CPU cards are rare on EBay. I'd rather get a 300 instead of a 266.
