Steph, To play just the piano staves, select the first bar in the Piano "A" stave, and then Shift-DownArrow to select the Piano "B" staff. Then press "P" to play. Only the selected staves are played. You could also use the dynamic parts feature and play from the piano part, but you'll want to do some reading of the various documentation to make sure you understand how to turn on the dynamic pats and switch between the panes. For printing, just make sure nothing is selected, and use the print dialog. Your whole score will print. If you want to only print the piano staves, then again I'll recommend learning how to use dynamic parts. It's all in the Sib 5 Reference manual, and I'm pretty sure Dan has also written about this in the Sib-Access documentation in the Ctrl+f1 dialog. It appeared to work. It put soprano on voice one, alto on voice 2 and did the same with the tenor and bass. Is there a way to play only the piano staves so I can make sure it's all there. Also, when printing, will it print my lyrics etc or do I need to do something to make them show again. Thanks so much, Steph -----Original Message----- From: Dan Rugman <sib-access@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: 14 February 2010 05:41 To: sib-access@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [sib-access] Re: piano questions Steph, The simplest way is to select the entire score and then use the include / exclude plug-in to deselect the staves you don't want to copy. That's what the steps in brackets were telling you to do. (a) Press Ctrl+A to select all. (b) Press Alt+U for plug-ins, then press Enter for the Access sub-menu, and then press I for include/ exclude staves. (c) In the list, select each staff which is not a vocal staff and press the change button. (You'll need to do this for each staff in turn, the dialog does not support selecting more than one item in the list.) (d) Press the close button. The other way is to select a note on one of the staves you want to copy and then extend the selection. This can be quicker but you need to be careful about key presses because you could select the wrong thing. For the record: 1. Select the item on the first staff you want to copy. 2. Press Ctrl+Home to extend the selection to the start of the score. 3. Press Ctrl+End to extend the selection to the end of the score. 4. Only one staff is selected at the moment, so press Shift+DownArrow until all the staves you need are selected. 5. If you've selected too many staves, use the include / exclude staves plug-in to remove the unwanted staves. The filtering option was "notes and chords". As the name suggests, this filters the selection so that it only contains notes and chords. All dynamics, lyrics, and other markings are removed. BTW, pressing F5 tells you how many items are now selected and what type they are. The reason for filtering is that it stops the piano part being filled up with information which is only useful to the singers. EG: the pianist doesn't need to see the lyrics in their own part; they can just look at the vocals staves if they need them. You can also find that the target staves get filled up with multiple copies of some text items, which can be a pain to clean up afterwards. If you want the dynamics to be included in the piano staves, you have two options. The first is to follow the instructions I gave you exactly. Then go back to one of the vocal staves, select everything on the stave and then filter for dynamics. Next, copy and paste in the normal way onto the top piano staff. The other way is to not filter the selection before using the arrange dialog. This means that the piano staves will be filled up with everything from the staves, some of which you might not want. You'll then need to select everything on both piano staves and filter for the things that you don't want. You can then delete them. Just to clarify, how do I select more than one staff at a time? And after the filtering, what am i copying to the clipboard?
