A wonderful idea. I'll keep you in mind if I should be in a position to
teach music to children, blind or not.

Hi Dave
We are producing a flat tin which has raised and high contrast staves on
both sides of the lid. The magnetic musical notes, rests and other signs can
be placed on the staves so blind children get an idea of how music in print
looks, and how to place symbols correctly. The symbols can be stored inside
the tin and the whole thing is very compact and easy to transport.
I will have proper dimensions for people when my colleague finalises cost
etc.
Cheers
Lisette

Since I'm a curious sort, what are these music magnets?

  Hi Steph
I can't email you off list as I don't know your email address. It was me
who
mentioned the music magnets and we should have something for sale shortly.
My colleague at Blind Low Vision Education Network NZ is producing them
and
I will speak to her today to find out what the state of play is.
Please send me your email address
  lisettewesseling@xxxxxxxxx
and we'll continue this off list.
  Lisette

    Eahi all.
Several months ago, there was mention of 'print music magnets that a
blind
person could use. I'm looking to buy some, but don't know where to get
them.
I live in Australia, but am willing to buy from anywhere that has them.
Also, I need to hear from blind music teachers, both classroom and
  private.
If anyone can help with the above, could you please email me off list.
    Thanks so much.
    Steph
