Steph, The best thing to do is create the dynamic and the expression in one item. From scratch, do the following: Navigate to the note that you want the marking below. Press Ctrl+E When the text field opens press Ctrl+P to create the piano mark then press space and type cres. One important point to stress is that Ctrl+P creates the p in a different font which is correct for dynamics. The cres is just written in a basic font (usually Times New Roman). The reason for doing it this way is that the dynamic and the expression will always be spaced correctly.
