Ramy, This has caught a few people out. The problem is that the GraveAccent key is not in the same place on every keyboard across the world. The keystroke which you need to add in the preferences dialog is the Control key with the key which is in the top left corner of the main keyboard, above the tab key and to the left of the number 1 on the number row. On most English keyboards this will be the GraveAccent key, but in other countries there is no telling what the key might be. Try following the instructions on the known issues section of the site and instead of pressing Control + GraveAccent press Control with the key in the top left corner of the main keyboard (not the escape key).
