Dan,
Done. Now it works. Curiously, I had coppied this by hand going
through documents and settings etc and failed. I know I did that right
because when I executed your process just now, I was told that the folder
already contained, etc. However, for whatever reason, I have the docs where
they belong.
Sorry to drag you through such hoops. Appreciate it more than you
know.
Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,

Just for clarity, follow the steps below.

1. Find the folder "Sibelius Access Resources"
2. Copy the folder to the clipboard. (Do not open the folder, just select
the folder and press CONTROL+C.) 3. Press the WINDOWS key to open the start
menu. 4. Go to Programs > JAWS (version number) > Explore JAWS > Explore My
Settings. If you up and down arrow through this folder you should find the
usual batch of JAWS script files and a few other folders. 5. Paste the
clipboard into this folder.

You should now be able to access the guide through the CONTROL+F1 folder.

I'll be putting the entire guide onto the Music Access site soon, so that
people can read it on line. This is also the easiest way to update the
guide as I complete new topics.

Hope this helps,

Dan Rugman

I've coppied it to both My Settings and ENU. It still doesn't come up.
Tim, if you're around. Please Skype me at kevjazz. I'm really
confused. Thanks, Kevin

Tim
The problem is the Installing.htm file. It says:
4. Open the folder called JAWS and copy all of its contents.
5. Go to Start>Programs > JAWS > Explore JAWS > Explore Shared Settings 6.
Paste the copied files and folders into this folder. So I'm correct, when
saying that "Sibelius access resources" should be in "my setting". Regards

Hi Kevin,

The files that make up the Guide should be found at:

C:\Documents and Settings\(your user name)\Application Data\Freedom
Scientific\JAWS\(Jaws version number)\Settings\enu\Sibelius Access
Resources\Guide

Best wishes.

Dan,
Your summary of keystrokes is very helpful here. I had some of it
figured out but really appreciate your filling in. Unfortunately, I don't
have the guide. Neither CTRL+F1, first option, nor JAWS+F1 twice yields the
guide. JAWS plus F1 once or twice brings up the score window. Could it be
that the guide was not installed? Where might I find it as a file
somewhere? Thanks for everything, Kevin

Kevin,

You should have the guide installed. Press INSERT+F1 twice or press
CONTROL+F1 and choose the first item.

The docs are still embrionic but there's definitely a topic on playback
which should help clear this up.

I think the confusion is arising over the playback line verses the selected
item. Just to clarify: F6 speaks the position of the selected item.
CONTROL+F6 speaks the position of the playback line.
P starts playback from the position of the selected item.
SPACE starts playback from where it last stopped.
CONTROL+SPACE rewinds to where playback last started from and plays from
that point.

HTH,

Dan

Dan,
Sorry. I only have the Milestone doc and that didn't mention F6 in
that contexts that I knew.
On review, using F6 gives me the position from which I started
playback, not the position at which I stopped. I have enough vision to
understand that the position read by F6 relates to the selected note which
was the position at which playback began. I do understand that starting and
stopping with the space bar does cause you to progress from your last stop
point. However, the only way I can figure out what that position was is to
use the go to playback line using the g in the playback menu.
Also, while playback appears to be read from the position at which I
stopped when play stops, it is only read in seconds not in bars when play
stops. Is this a verbosity setting? What is the optimum screen
magnification for playback? Does that even matter?
I'm only now digging into this because I finished mixing my album
yesterday and need to get away from that project with this one. It's an
amazing thing you've done. Thanks as always, Kevin

Kevin,

The topic "playing the score" in the guide covers this.

To summarise,

Press CONTROL+F6 to hear the position of the playback line in bars and
beats.

Pressing SPACE starts and stops playback in the traditional pause/play
fashion, so playback continues from where you left off.

Pressing CONTROL+SPACE starts playback from the previous point where you
started playing from. Sibelius calls this replay. -----Original

Following up on my last question, it looks like when you use the playback
and stop, you're returned to where you started play. Is that correct? Can
you resume play from the position at which you last stopped? Thanks, Kevin
