[SI-LIST] Re: why do one need PRBS Rx AND Tx?

Roy, one PRBS unit acts as a generator, and the other a checker. The
receive data is not time aligned to the transmit, and so a separate unit is
needed. The basic operation is: transmitter inserts the PRBS pattern into
the data stream. The receiver PRBS generator has a synchronization state
machine ( shift register ) that initializes state on the incoming stream
and then free runs until there are too many errors, in which case it will
resync.
