[SI-LIST] Re: spice model of tantalum capacitor


I'm creating a model for tantalum capacitors using Saber. The concepts for Spice
are the same.  I'm trying to create models based on part specs, and not
necessarily the behavior of any supplier's part, but the models I create should
be reasonable compared to data. My models vary about spec limits over the
temperature range. I started on this sometime ago and got sidetracked before I
got finished, so the details are fuzzy in my mine.

I did create a pair of ceramic capacitor models. (Type 1 and Type2 dielectric) I
have a topology that has 6 capacitors and 6 resistors. I used mathcad to
generate component values based on dissipaton factor and then scaled that by the
capacitance, so I could create a model for every part in our library.  Saber
allows programming and decision making in the model, so I used package size and
capacitance to estimate ESL and ESR, if not given in the spec. Dissipation
factor is a function of the product spec and temperature, so the model looks up
component values based on current conditons. Also type 2 dielectric ceramic
capacitors change capacitance w/ DC and AC bias, so my model mimics that
behavior also.

 I was thinking of doing something similar for tantalum.

It looks like the Kemet model and AVX models are a little different.

What measurement data do you have?

I am doing some simulation which need the spice model of tancap. I have use the
RLC series model and the model given by AVX. The simulation result is far away
from measurement. Does somebogy know how to get the spice model of tancap. I
will prefer your reply.
