[SI-LIST] Re: package SSN model accuracy requirements

Is this more than the EQ that is modeled in the Altera Stratix GX
receiver behavioral model?

Also, I remember at one time Mentor had an AMS Receiver example
including an EQ and PLL feeding back the recovered clock to determine
the precise point where the receive signal is sampled. Would that be of
any additional value?

Amen!!!

P.S. I may develop that model you are asking for in AMS, and if tool
vendors see it fit to hard code it into their tool, so be it. It may
even simulate faster that way...

Arpad,

Here's my wishes for the IBIS community.

1) Get Bird95/97 out the door ASAP

2) Make sure EDA vendors support those specs. It's one thing to create a
standard, it's another problem to make the EDA members to follow through
=3D and put that into their tools. I truly wish you come back in one =
year
and =3D thumb your nose at me saying "see, here's an ibis sso simulation
with x,y,z tools". It will be a win for all of us.

3) Start working on a behavioral definition on equalizing receivers. I =
=3D
am increasingly see a lot of equalizing receivers at 4G and 10G designs
and it's time to put the ego on the back seat and get to work on a
solution.
This is a huge one since there is no measurement for verification, it is
almost an exclusive problem of simulation and a leap of faith and I am
afraid the EDA community is lacking poorly. Save your energy arguing =3D
with me and start working on a solution. By solution I don't mean
another free =3D for all AMS model, I am talking about a well defined =
set
of behavioral model that any EDA vendor can hard code into their tools.
AMS may fly in our =3D live time but 4G/10G equalizing receiver is a
problem that will exist =3D tomorrow if not today.

Peace,
Chris
