[SI-LIST]

Thanks to everyone who answered. To summarize what I've learned:

I understand the idea of linear building blocks and that each element can be
rearranged and the end result is the same - so in effect the location of the ac
coupling (dc block) capacitor makes little difference IF ALL THINGS REMAIN THE
SAME.

As has been pointed out, often ALL THINGS DO NOT REMAIN THE SAME when the
capacitor is moved around. Different locations allow for different numbers of
vias which has a great effect on overall SI.

We routinely minimize numbers of vias and try to backdrill vias at connectors
and other vias where possible on these speed traces.

I have not been subscribed on this forum/freelist long, but I've been a casual
reader when the topic has been of interest. I appreciate everyone's feedback.
