The basic program in the microsim notes is doing exactly what the excel
function does, creating a random bit sequence. I agree it is not a well
defined sequence.
Does anyone have a script that creates 8b/10b encoding for an 8 bit =
binary
word?

simul atio n in spice
Hello,
one stupid question:
I thought PRBS is a well defined sequence (with undefined starting =
point).
So how could the Excel int(rand()+0.5) function create this sequence ?
I expected this to be (more or less) random!
regards
hermann

The same thing can be easily done using the int(rand()+0.5)function in
excel.

Subject: [SI-LIST] more on PWL statement generation for PRBS simulation
in spice
Follow on to my recent posting on generation PWL PRBS
excitation for spice simulations.
I mentioned that one could take the recently posted Perl
code and modify it to output a PWL statement.
Check the Microsim app note document at:
http://www.pspice.com/upload/appnotes/appnts.pdf

On page 231 of the pdf file a chapter entitled
"Test Analog circuits with Random Digital Data"
begins. On page 233, figure 124 is a simple program
listing in BASIC that allows one to generate a PWL
statement based on random data generated by the BASIC
rand() statement. The logic in that listing could be
ported into the PERL prbs code to create an integrated
program.
